Some portals reject images that are too small as well as too large, for example when a photo must be at least 50 KB. This tool raises the file size to the number you enter.

The default method adds data without changing how the picture looks. Raising quality instead re-encodes the image at a higher quality, which can add size but depends on the original.

Why would I need a bigger file?

Some upload forms set a minimum file size as well as a maximum, so very small images are rejected.

Does the image look different afterwards?

Not with the default method. The picture stays the same and only the file size grows.

Is there a limit to how large it can get?

Pick a size close to what the portal requires. Very large targets are capped by the 20 MB upload limit.
